For many people, part of the daily routine is being stuck in traffic. It is an unfortunate reality today that rush hour traffic is only getting worse and people who must commute to and from work can expect to be stuck in traffic at some point during their commute. It doesn’t really make sense to get angry about it because there is very little you can do about it. So instead there are a few things you can do to make that rush hour time a little more tolerable. Here are some tips to help you get through those daily traffic tie ups.
First of all, just try and not worry about it so much. It may be easier said than done but it not going to help make anything better to get angry and we all know stress is bad. Relax and make the best of the situation, listen to some music or your favorite podcast. Another way to keep from being stressed out is giving yourself extra time to get where you’re going. Not too many people are in a great hurry to get to work but try to leave a little earlier in case there’s some unexpected delay like a traffic accident.
Listening to music or a podcast can take your mind off the traffic but stay off the phone. Being on the phone while in traffic is not the kind of distraction you want, it just dangerous.
Another thing you should not do is try to beat the traffic by darting in and out of lanes in an attempt to gain a few car lengths. In addition to being an unsafe practice, chances are that in the end you won’t have gained that much.
Sitting in rush hour traffic can be the worst part of the day for many people. There is not a lot you can do to avoid it, but you can try to make it a little less stressful.
